Sound design is an essential part of filmmaking that often goes unnoticed. In our film opening project, we paid careful attention to the sound design to enhance the audience's experience.

During post-production, we started addingsound effects and music that complemented the visuals. For example, during the confrontation scene, we added subtle but impactful sound effects, like footsteps and breathing, to create tension.

We also had to mix the dialogue to make it clear and audible. We used a combination of on-set audio and foley sounds to achieve this. It took several iterations, but we were able to get the sound just right.

Sound design is often overlooked, but it's a critical component of filmmaking. It's the sound that brings the visuals to life and immerses the audience in the story. We still have a lot of filming to do but we decided to play around with the audio a little with the shots we already have.

Having some trouble choosing a house to film at

 During the first day of filming, we had planned to shoot the opening scene in a hacienda, as described in the original script. However, after scouting the location, we realized that it wasn't suitable for our vision. The space was too small, and there was too much background noise at the first house we had chosen to shoot at.

We had to make a tough decision and change the location to a different house. While this decision caused some delays, it was the right one. The new location had more space, better lighting, and a better atmosphere that suited the shot better.

We learned that sometimes we have to be flexible and make changes to our plans. It's important to prioritize the vision of the project over convenience.

Third Day of Filming

One of the key moments in our film opening project was the confrontation between Don Toro and Don Mateo. We knew that this scene had to be intense and filled with tension. To achieve this, we carefully planned the camera angles and movements to capture the emotions of the characters.

We decided to film the confrontation in a large, empty warehouse, which added to the atmosphere. The lighting was also crucial in setting the mood. We used a combination of practical lighting and artificial lighting to create shadows and highlights that added depth to the scene.

This scene was challenging to film, but it was also one of the most rewarding. We have been filming many different shots and scenes at different locations and when we reach post-production we will choose which are most suited to go on the final product.

Looking forward to shooting next week

 After overcoming the challenges we faced during our previous shoot, we are more motivated than ever to make this project a success.

This time around, we are excited to film the interior shots of Don Toro's hacienda. We have meticulously scouted for the perfect location, and we are confident that it will bring our vision to life. The hacienda boasts a rustic yet elegant ambiance that perfectly captures the essence of the character.

We are also looking forward to working with our actors once again. We have been practicing our lines and characterizations, and we can't wait to see how we will bring the story to life on screen.

Of course, we know that filming can be unpredictable, and we may face some unexpected challenges along the way. But we are prepared to adapt and make the necessary tweaks to ensure that we capture the best possible shots.

With each shoot, we are growing more confident and learning more about what we need to do in order to succeed. 

Challenges facing our opening scene

 The first hurdle we encountered was finding the perfect location for the opening shot. We had originally planned to film in the lush green mountains of Colombia, but due to some unforeseen circumstances, we had to switch our location to the trees in Weston. While the new location was just as beautiful, it presented some logistical challenges that we had to overcome.

One of the main issues we faced was the weather.  We also had to adjust our shooting schedule to accommodate for the changing weather conditions. It started raining which is something we did not see coming at all.

Another challenge we faced was the lighting. Our initial plan was to shoot during the golden hour, but the cloudy weather made it difficult to achieve the desired lighting. To compensate, we had to use additional lighting equipment to make the shot look more natural.

Despite these challenges, we were determined to make the best out of our situation. We made some small tweaks to our original plan, such as adjusting the camera angles and using different lenses, to make the shot more visually appealing. We also worked closely with our actors to ensure that they could deliver their lines and perform their roles in the best possible way.

In the end, all of our hard work paid off. We were able to capture a stunning opening shot that set the tone for the rest of our film. We learned that sometimes unexpected challenges can lead to even better results if you're willing to adapt and make the necessary adjustments.

First day of shooting

Lights, camera, action! Today was an exciting day for our group as we embarked on our journey of starting our 2 minute film opening. It was a beautiful day outside, and we were all pumped up to start filming.

We met up early in the morning, armed with our cameras and props. As we set up our equipment, we couldn't help but feel like real filmmakers. It was a surreal experience, and we were all eager to get started.

Our first shot was set in a park, where our lead actor was supposed to walk in and sit on a bench. Everything was going smoothly until a group of ducks decided to make an appearance in the background. We tried our best to shoo them away, but they just wouldn't bother to move. In the end, we decided to incorporate them into the scene, and it turned out to be a great addition to the shot.

Next, we moved on to our indoor scene, where we had to shoot a conversation between two characters. The only problem was that we were filming in a busy coffee shop, and the noise was proving to be a challenge. But we didn't let that dampen our spirits. We improvised by getting creative with the shots and shooting the audio outside.

As the day progressed, we faced several challenges, from unexpected weather changes to equipment malfunctions. But we were a determined group, and we tackled each obstacle with a positive attitude.

By the end of the day, we had successfully captured all the shots we needed. It was an incredible feeling, and we couldn't wait to see the final product. 

Looking back, our first day of filming was an adventure that we will never forget. We learned a lot about the process of filmmaking, from planning and preparation to adapting to unforeseen circumstances. It was a great bonding experience for our group, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for our project.

Finally Starting Production This Week

 After weeks of brainstorming, writing and rewriting, my group has finally finished the script for our film. We are all excited to start filming this week, but we know that there are still challenges that we have to overcome to make our film a success.

One of the main challenges we faced during the scriptwriting process was coming up with a cohesive storyline that could be told in just two minutes. We wanted to create a story that was engaging, unique and memorable, but we also had to make sure that it could be filmed within our limited resources and time frame. It took us several revisions to find the right balance between a compelling story and practicality.

Equipment and location were also major challenges for us. We had to secure a filming location that fit our script and was easily accessible. We also had to rent or borrow equipment such as a drone from one of our friends.

Despite these challenges, we were able to overcome them by working together as a team and communicating effectively. We made sure to stay organized by creating a shooting schedule, assigning responsibilities, and keeping each other accountable for our tasks. 

Now that we have completed the script and overcome our initial challenges, we are excited to move forward with the filming process. We know that there will be more obstacles ahead, but we are confident that we can produce a very good piece.
